Released in 2022, the present PAM01269 is essentially an open-worked version of the blue-dialed PAM00742. Encased in Panerai’s innovative Goldtech material—an alloy that combines pure gold with platinum and copper—this watch showcases a warm, rich hue with enhanced durability, making it well-suited for the sports watch category.

Despite its open-worked design, the dial remains highly legible. Made of tinted sapphire, it reveals the concentric calendar discs underneath. The indicators are presented linearly, offering a clean and balanced aesthetic, with all elements aligned along a horizontal axis from nine to three o’clock. The Italian calendar reflects the brand’s heritage as a supplier to the Italian Royal Navy, connecting the original buyers of this limited timepiece to a unique experience in Florence and the surrounding Tuscan countryside—a journey through Panerai's rich culture and history.

Visible through the sapphire case back, the reverse of the watch is equally impressive, featuring perpetual calendar displays along with a 3-day power reserve indicator and a 22K micro-rotor. Limited to just 33 pieces, this PAM01269 is numbered 17 and accompanied by its certificate and box. Representing the pinnacle of Panerai craftsmanship, the present reference marks its auction debut and is an ultimate choice for the most distinguished collectors.

Panerai

Italian | 1860
Known for its robust designs and large case sizes, Officine Panerai was established in 1860 by Giovanni Panerai in Florence, Italy. Around 1900, Giovanni's grandson Guido Panerai took over, and Panerai became the supplier to the Regia Marina — the Royal Italian Navy. After supplying the navy with high-precision instruments for a number of years, Officine Panerai created Radiomir, a radium-based powder that gives luminosity to the dials of sighting instruments and devices. By 1936, the Royal Italian Navy approached Panerai again with the request to design a watch resistant to extreme underwater conditions. The watch they created became known as the "Radiomir".
Panerai's watches made during the early twentieth century era were comprised of cases designed and manufactured by Rolex SA, with Cortébert, a Swiss manufacturer, supplying the majority of their movements. The most recognizable designs from the firm are the Radiomir and Luminor. To date, vintage models from the first half of the 1900s, such as the reference 3646 and 6152 models, remain the most desirable among collectors.
