Good to know:
- Model No. 7.5 won the iF Design Award in 2024
- Uses a movement with add-on module developed in collaboration with Precision Watch Tokyo
- In “brand-new” condition with full set of accessories
Otsuka Lotec founder Jiro Katayama is one of the most admired Japanese independent watchmakers. It is noticeable that some of Katayama’s works are influenced by vintage film cameras and cinematography lenses, and this Model 7.5 fully reflects the inspiration from vintage 8mm turret cameras in particular. The three-lens dial set up presenting the jumping hour, rotating minutes and running seconds gives a bold industrial and steampunk appearance to the watch.
The new Model No. 7.5 is a total revamp of the original model. The steel case of the new Model No. 7.5 uses low carbon steel SUS316L, substituting the original SUS303, which provides a high corrosion resistance. The mineral glass of the old model is replaced with sapphire crystal glass, and the fish hour lens indicating the hour has been upgraded to a custom-made sapphire glass as well.
The present watch runs with a Miyota based cal. 82S5 movement. While in most times Otsuka Lotec would attach in-house developed modules on top of the outsourced movements from Miyota, this model houses a movement with a jumping hour module developed in collaboration with Precision Watch Tokyo.
This lot comes with full set of accessories, including the hand-written thank you message card from Jiro Katayama.
