The Omega Speedmaster “Racing” models first appeared in the 1960s and were launched in three series. Extremely sought after in the market today, early examples are highly desirable due to their sporty appeal and rarity.
In 2004, Omega reintroduced the “Racing” dial and was made only for the Japanese market referenced 3750.40. With the design of the dial very similar to examples from the 1960s, the new model featured a crayon grey dial with red, white and orange accents. Upgraded and an understated feature, the orange accents on the dial were applied with luminous material, and when one sheds UV light on the dial, the orange accents display a neon glow. Adapting essentially the same concept as the original models, the tri-colored dial provides an enhanced legibility for wearers. Contrasting beautifully against a crayon grey dial, the Speedmaster “Racing” Japan is without a doubt a wonderfully executed iteration of the much loved Speedmaster “Racing” model. It is believed that only 2,004 examples were produced.
The present lot is a charming example of the ref. 3750.40 and is presented in excellent, almost-new condition. It is further accompanied by its warranty, hang tag and presentation box.

Swiss | 1848Omega's rich history begins with its founder, Louis Brandt, who established the firm in 1848 in La Chaux de Fonds. In 1903, the company changed its name to Omega, becoming the only watch brand in history to have been named after one its own movements. A full-fledged manufacturer of highly accurate, affordable and reliable watches, its sterling reputation enabled them to be chosen as the first watch company to time the Olympic Games beginning in 1932. Its continued focus on precision and reliability ultimately led their Speedmaster chronograph wristwatch to be chosen by NASA in 1965 — the first watch worn on the moon.Key models sought-after by collectors include their first, oversized water-resistant chronograph — the reference 2077, early Speedmaster models such as the CK 2915 and 2998, military-issued versions of the Seamaster and oversized chronometer models such as those fitted with their prestigious caliber 30T2Rg.
