-Conceived in collaboration with celebrated industrial designer Marc Newson, the Hourglass for HODINKEE transforms one of the oldest instruments for measuring time into a mesmerizing work of contemporary design. Produced in a limited edition of only 100 examples, it was originally offered exclusively through HODINKEE.
-Formed by hand from a single piece of borosilicate glass, each hourglass required its maker to shape the rotating vessel entirely by eye using specialized torches and traditional glassblowing techniques. Its sculptural form stands 150 mm tall and measures 125 mm at its widest point, with the handmade process rendering every example subtly unique.
-Measuring an interval of approximately ten minutes, the hourglass contains precisely 1,249,996 stainless-steel “nanoballs,” each measuring just 0.6 mm in diameter and finished with a fine copper coating and protective anti-corrosion layer. The warm metallic spheres create constantly evolving patterns as they fall, accompanied by a distinctive, delicate sound. Each example bears Marc Newson’s signature and the HODINKEE logo, together with its “1 of 100” limited-edition designation.
