- Unveiled in 1999, the IWC GST Deep One earned its place in horological history as the first wristwatch to integrate a mechanical depth gauge, maximum depth display and a rotating bezel into a single, cohesive design. Among the most sought-after IWC collectibles, it broke new ground within the innovative GST sports line.
- Utilizing a patented Bourdon tube, engineered by master watchmaker Richard Habring, water pressure activates the mechanism to accurately measure depth, indicated by a white arrow hand alongside a marker that shows maximum safe diving limits. Divers can reset the depth gauge to zero using a crown at the 4 o’clock position, providing essential information for their underwater missions.
- Scarcely produced due to its intricate craftsmanship, fewer than 1,000 units are believed to have been completed. The example presented here remains remarkably intact, preserved in excellent condition following a complete factory service in 2024. Given its complex mechanism, it must still return to Schaffhausen for servicing.
