• Taking inspiration from the original oversized wristwatches of the late 1930s—commissioned by Portuguese merchants who sought marine chronometer accuracy in a wrist-worn format—the 5001 translated this DNA into a distinctly modern idiom. With its commanding 42.3mm case, expansive dial, and clean layout, the model quickly became an icon of contemporary IWC production.
