With their groundbreaking H1, HYT (Hydro Mechanical Horologists) introduced a novel way of telling time that had not been used since the use of the clepsydras: via fluids!
With over 8 technological patents and 1 patent for design, the H1 was developed in collaboration with Jean-François Mojon and Preciflex, the manual wind movement powers two “pump” that are visible on the lower part of the dial compressing and expanding two immiscible liquids (one colored the other transparent).
As the hours go by, the liquid runs through a tube indicating the hours whilst a dial positioned at 12 O’clock indicates the minutes.
An outlandish watch, HYT’s H1 is an incredible feat of engineering and proof that the boundaries of what is possible in watchmaking can always be expanded.
