Known for their commitment and prowess for craftsmanship and quality, Grand Seiko partnered with Hodinkee in 2021 and launched the Automatic GMT SBGM239, the first SBGM series produced since Grand Seiko became its own independent brand in 2017. The result, a refined timepiece that embraces subtlety and attention to detail. What grabs your attention first is the richness of the twilight blue dial, poetically inspired by the shades of dusk or “Yūgure” in Japanese. The passage of time is indicated by the muted grey GMT hand and the 24-hour ring with an understated refinement on typography with sharp spurs, as have the inverted dart triangles that signify the odd hours of the day. Powering the timepiece is the in-house self-winding 9S66 calibre that provides up to 3 days of activities. Rigorously tested with precision, the 9S66 calibre is tested over a period of 17 days, in six different positions, and across three different temperatures before it leaves the manufacture.

Produced in a limited edition of 500 pieces and only made available to the U.S market, the present timepiece is not only sophisticated in its aesthetics but also designed with practicality and comfort in mind.
