- The discontinued Eberhard Tazio Nuvolari Rattrapante Ref. 31055.5 CP is a masterfully engineered chronograph that pays tribute to one of motorsport’s most iconic legends. Encased in stainless steel, it exudes vintage racing allure while delivering modern mechanical sophistication. The black dial features luminous Arabic numerals and a distinctive “rosette” bezel, while just beneath the Eberhard signature lies Nuvolari’s lucky charm: a stylised tortoise emblem. A white outer track marked in 1/5th-second increments, along with luminous five-minute markers, enhances legibility and precision.
- At its core is an automatic movement powering a complete chronograph suite, including a red split-seconds (rattrapante) hand for precise lap timing. The chronograph functions are operated via twin pushers flanking the screw-down crown, with an additional pusher at 8 o’clock dedicated to the split-seconds mechanism. Subdials at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock display the 30-minute counter, 12-hour counter, and running seconds, respectively. White pointed baton hands, filled with luminous material, ensure excellent visibility in low-light conditions.
- The caseback, secured by eight screws, is finely engraved with Tazio Nuvolari’s signature and the tortoise motif, echoing the dial’s emblem. The present example is in “like-new” condition and accompanied by a full set of accessories. It is completed with a brown crocodile strap and a signed stainless steel buckle.
