The limited-edition Credor Sakura Fubuki Raden GCLP989 released in 2018 represents the second passionate collaboration between Credor and the revered lacquerware artisan Yamada Heian-do. This exquisite timepiece fuses ancient Japanese craftsmanship with Seiko's innovative horology, delivering a dial of breathtaking beauty and profound cultural resonance.
The dial's centerpiece is the poetic Sakura Fubuki (cherry blossoms falling under moonlight) evoking fleeting beauty and serene transience. Crafted using the ancient raden technique from the Nara period (710–794 CE), thin slivers of iridescent mother-of-pearl are meticulously cut, inlaid into urushi lacquer, then layered and hand-polished until the delicate petals shimmer in relief. Each inlay glows with natural iridescence, creating a dreamlike, almost otherworldly quality that feels timeless yet profoundly captivating.
Housed in a sleek 38mm stainless steel case, the watch is powered by Seiko’s groundbreaking Spring Drive Caliber 7R87, featuring a prominent big date complication. This hybrid movement draws energy from a mainspring like a classic mechanical watch but achieves extraordinary precision and silky smooth seconds hand sweep.
