完整圖錄內容
- The satin-brushed brancards and gloss finished chamfers matched with a stain-brushed dial resembles the vintage original, now paired with a bevelled ruby cabochon winding crown, gives a clean aesthetic to the iconic model. The Roman numerals and chemin de fer minute track are matched with epée hands instead of Breuget hands in the vintage 1917 model, which turns out to be giving the classic watch a slight touch of modernity. The hidden secret signature that can be usually sighted at the VII numeral now shows “1917” instead of the usual “Cartier”, paying tribute to the year that the Normale was designed.
- Offered by the original owner and with a limited edition of 200 pieces produced, this lot is a rare opportunity for Cartier connoisseurs to possess such elegant piece that carries the heritage of the Parisian Maison without the hefty wait in normal purchasing means.
Cartier
FrenchWith the Constitution of 1848 came a new standard for luxury in France. Founded one year prior by Louis-Francois Cartier, the house of Cartier was one of the first to use platinum in jewelry making. This incredibly expensive material became the stepping-stone for Cartier to experiment in form, mechanisms and attitude. It helped men move from pocket watches to wristwatches, effectively making the watch much more functional and prominent in a man's overall wardrobe.
Cartier did not only touch on functionality. Inspired by a commissioned painting by George Barbier featuring a black panther at the feet of an elegantly bejeweled woman, Cartier began incorporating wild animals in his designs—most notably, Cartier Panthère rings, bangle bracelets and watches. Yet it wasn't until the late 1960s that the house of Cartier debuted their iconic yellow and rose gold LOVE collection, which includes the famous bracelet that only a special screwdriver can open.
