Preserved in impeccable condition, this ref. 809 specimen savoured by Toshio Masui is in razor-sharp condition. Belonging to the wide-bezel MK 2 production batch even rarer than the early MK I series.
The hands set is unique to Mk1 and Mk2 Navitimer Cosmonaute with lumed tip chrono sweep hand and the wide lumed syringe hands. Powered by the calibre 178, these movements were stamped with WOG as an USA import code by Wakmann. According to Breitling's archive, the present timepiece dates back to October 1963.
Part of the Watch Museum VOGA collection and featured in the published catalogue, this is not only a rare chance to acquire a 809, but one in “like-new” condition.

Today, all models are outfitted with certified chronometer movements, used for accurate timing. Early aviation pioneers in specialized chronograph timepieces, Breitling introduced the circular slide rule to watches in the 1940s for use by pilots. The firm’s most iconic chronograph, the Navitimer, was introduced in 1954 and continues to be manufactured today. Another key model is the Duograph, a split-seconds chronograph that was Breitling's most prestigious wristwatch during the 1940s through '60s. Their watches are built on their reputation for precision and sturdiness.
