One of the rarest of Royal Oak models reference 25595 was in production for 3 short years between 1984 and 1987 with only 5 pieces ever made, 3 in yellow gold, 2 in white gold.
The present white gold Royal Oak is a phenomenally rare reference 25595BC which graces the auction market once in a blue moon and a model very few have had the pleasure of actually seeing. Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak does not need an introduction. With its launch in 1972 Audemars Piguet created one of the most iconic and classic wristwatches of the late 20th century and a benchmark for what the luxury sports watch should be. Sold originally in Singapore in the 80's the present 25595BC is a true work of elegance and beauty. At 36mm diameter the watch presents a beautiful black tapisserie dial with stylish diamond set hour markers as well a refined diamond-set bezel.
Crafted out of solid 18-karat gold, its luxurious heft is dramatic, especially when compared to other regular productions of stainless steel versions. The present ultra-rare example is in absolutely spectacular condition. To further add to the rarity of this timepiece recent research shows that only two pieces in this configuration in white gold where ever made making it one of the most underrated and undiscovered variants of the Royal Oak to ever appear on the market.
A specialist in the manufacture of complications since it was established in 1881, Audemars Piguet never ceases to impress with a rich history of creating bold, even audacious, timepieces underpinned by traditional watchmaking at its finest. This Le Brassus-based Swiss manufacturer is one of only two major manufacturers still owned by the founding family. Since its earliest days, AP is considered a leader in the field of minute repeaters and grande complication pocket and wristwatches. The brand is devoted to preserving the history of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux, showcased at their superb museum in Le Brassus.
Today, the brand is best known for its Royal Oak models, a revolutionary luxury sports watch launched in 1972. Other key models include early minute repeating wristwatches, vintage chronograph wristwatches, such as the oversized reference 5020, perpetual calendar watches and the Royal Oak Offshore, first introduced in 1993.
