Record producer, DJ, rapper, art collector, and entrepreneur Kasseem Dean, also known as Swizz Beatz, began collaborating with Reebok in 2010. In 2011 he was named their creative director and announced his new role with a re-imagined heritage model, the Kamikaze. The first Kamikaze came out in 1994 as the signature shoe of NBA star Shawn Kemp. For the Kamikaze III, Swizz Beatz retained the graphic punch of the earlier models but reinterpreted the design in range of colorways. He also emphasized the materials from the Hexalite midsole to the patent-leather toe cap. The large suede-covered tongue sporting a bold R is a nod to basketball shoes from the late 1980s and early 1990s.
