    Cocteau invented a pencil made of oxides to give the appearance of pastel. It consisted of a mixture of pasty clay and oxides rolled by hand into little cylinders like a pastel that will be used, after drying, like a pencil.

signed on the face, inscribed Edition originale de Jean Cocteau, Atelier Madeline-Jolly and numbered 7/15 in black paint on the underside,  minor surface soiling, a few scuffs and smudges on the underside (slightly affecting the inscription), otherwise in very good condition.
