  • Catalogue Essay

Emmanuel Cooper writes of Collingwood: "Other artists identify their work as springing more from an intellectual and conscious decision-making process rather than a response to feeling or material.  The cool, ordered macrogauze sculptures of Peter Collingwood have a sense of geometry and order that comes partly from the discipline of the weaving process itself and partly from a series of measured decisions about colour, number of threads, dimensions etc. Although Collingwood’s pieces in (Un)LIMITED were begun from similar points in terms of colours and dimensions, each has developed a quiet individuality whilst remaining part of the same family. Within them we can enjoy the relationship of one plane leading into and out of the other, of interconnections and interactions".
