Barbro Nilsson, teacher and head of the textile department at the prestigious Konstfack (known as University College of Arts, Crafts and Design), became the artistic director of Märta Måås-Fjetterström’s workshop in 1947, after the founder’s death.

With Nilsson as artistic director of the company, the firm reached its greatest success during the 1950s and 1960s. Nilsson's contribution was not limited to high quality and craftsmanship, her use of patterns, colour and innovative weaving techniques deeply influenced the firm. Along with Barbro Nilsson, Arianne Richter, Ann-Mari Forsberg, Barbro Sprinchorn and Kaisa Melanton among others she preserved Märta Måås-Fjetterström’s legacy introducing new designs and techniques respecting the firm’s tradition.
