  • Catalogue Essay

The German artist Michael Reisch studied under Bernd Becher at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf in the early 1990s.
Reisch's imagination works within the photograph, processing a wide range of references, while at the same time creating overlaps between nature, sculpture, and architecture. Each work is a system whose visual effect depends, above all, on the way in which it differs from reality. Each photograph is a construction that blends photographic and sculptural modes of thinking within a model and through which the specific work of art also becomes evident as a photograph.
