    Mariano Vivanco

    Peruvian • 1975

     

    Mariano Vivanco travelled the world with his family from an early age. Settling in New Zealand at the age of twelve, his passion for art and photography commenced. Inspired by the works of Edward Steichen and Horst P. Horst, and with his Peruvian heritage firmly in place, he developed a unique personal aesthetic. Vivanco moved to London in the year 2000 to pursue a career in fashion photography. With one of his first shoots ending up on the cover of Dazed and Confused.
     
    Since then he has gone on to create some of the most iconic imagery of the last two decades. His work is marked by a skilled use of colours and light, and has been featured in some of the world’s leading publications, including the American, Japanese, Russian and Spanish editions of Vogue, 10 Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, Hero/Heroine, GQ, Man About Town and King Kong among others.
     
    His subjects have included through the years the most renowned singers, actors, designers, athletes and acclaimed celebrities such as Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Angelina Jolie, Cardi B, Naomi Campbell, Cristiano Ronaldo, Jennifer Lopez, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Lady Gaga, Sam Smith, Damien Hirst, Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani and Donatella Versace to name a few.
     
    Mariano Vivanco has published several books, including Calcio in 2003, Ninety Five Chapel Market in 2008, Uomini in 2010 and Portraits Nudes Flowers in 2016, from which three of his signature portraits are in the permanent collection at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
     
    His tenth book, PERU published by Rizzoli, is a love letter to his homeland. Encompassing mythology, history and landscape, Vivanco emotively shares his passionate vision of Peru.
