A 2023 MB&F Legacy Machine Perpetual Calendar 'Salmon Dial' in Stainless Steel
Price: £125,000
Clément Finet, Senior Specialist, Perpetual Gstaad
The true tour-de-force when it comes to design is to be able to invent something completely disruptive and to see that something become a classic in just a matter of years…
Max Busser is what one could call (or should call!) a trailblazer… His extraordinary daring has literally redefined the horological landscape, first with the Opuses, and then with his very own Horological Machines… These are the kind of UFOs that put you on the map, but don’t be mistaken, MB&F is not just about timepieces for extraterrestrial life form 😉.
If a "Space Pirate" (HM 6) is a bit over the top for you, maybe a Legacy Machine is just what you need! Indeed, a Legacy Machine is that perfect mix between alien life form and terrestrial perfection… A perfect shape that can house and show off just about any complication… You may have guessed it, my pick for this season would have to be the award-winning Legacy Machine Perpetual Calendar, the ideal watch to go star hunting with this Summer.
A Konstantin Chaykin 'Joker'
Price: HKD $250,000
Jonathan Siu, Specialist, Perpetual Hong Kong
Ever wondered what the perfect summer watch looks like? Is it a dive watch with a helium valve? Or a pilot chronograph with large hands? For me, it's a watch with a smiling clown face on it. Yup, you heard me right. The Konstantin Chaykin Joker Titanium is my pick for this summer.

Why, you ask? Well, it's simple: I love how the dial looks like a clown's face, with animated “googly eyes” that display the hours and minutes. The moon-phase “mouth” adds a unique touch of quirky elegance. The design language is truly one-of-a-kind. Plus, the lightweight and durable titanium makes it comfortable to wear all day.
What really attracts me is that this watch isn’t just fun—it’s a creative piece blending humor with clever engineering. This early model is particularly rare, with only 88 pieces produced, making it the perfect statement piece for the season.
In excellent condition, complete with full set, this is the perfect playful, functional, and stylish accessory to keep everyone smiling all summer long.

A Circa 2000s Gérald Genta Retro Fantasy Jump Hour with Minnie Mouse in Stainless Steel, Made for Disneyland Hong Kong
Price: £16,950
Jacky Lam, Business Manager, Perpetual London
Okay, I’ll admit nostalgia got the better of me with this. Seeing the Gérald Genta M.10 awakens bittersweet memories. This watch was released to celebrate the opening of Hong Kong Disneyland in 2005, a year that still resonates with many Hongkongers, myself included. Mid-2000s was an interesting era for us. The economy was just beginning to recover from the SARS pandemic, and people longed for something cheerful. The arrival of the adorable mouse couple was exactly the magic we all needed.
Now back to the watch, The most striking feature is undoubtedly the dial. At the center stands Minnie Mouse, dressed in the regal attire of an ancient Chinese empress, whose animated arm acts as the retrograde minute hand, while the jumping hour display is situated at 9 o’clock position. The numerals are rendered in traditional Ming typeface, developed during the Ming Dynasty in the 14th century for woodblock printing. For millennials like me, the font feels familiar – it gained popularity through its adoption in early Microsoft Windows systems. Of course, the playfulness does not end there, look at the red accent on the “é” in “Gérald Genta”, a subtle but intentional touch that speaks the thoughts and care put into its design.
Setting sentiment aside, only 300 examples of the Minnie Mouse M.10 were ever made. Even when you count the additional 300 Mickey Mouse versions, the chances of spotting another one in the wild are slim. By contrast, how likely is it I’ll bump into another Rolex Submariner at a summer party?
A 2002 Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 5107G-001, Sealed
Price: £19,000
Antonia Fodor, Social Media Manager, Perpetual London
In my opinion, a summer watch should be comfortable to wear, practical, and a little bit whimsical.
The Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 5107G-001 fits the brief perfectly. At 37mm, this watch is the perfect size for me – particularly in the summer, when you don’t want to be weighed down by a watch. It’s slim and small enough to barely be felt on the wrist.
The date window helps us to keep track of our days, when they seem to fly by in the heat, whilst the automatic calibre 315 keeps the time ticking reliably. This Calatrava is simple, elegant, and the perfect companion for both daytime leisurely strolls, or nighttime extravaganzas.
A 2021 Rolex Day-Date 40 'Eisenkiesel' Ref. 228235 in 18k Everose Gold
Price: £51,000
Giulia Hussain, Intern, Perpetual London
My summer pick is the Rolex Day-Date 40 'Eisenkiesel' in Everose gold with a stone dial. There’s something about this combination that just works. The Everose gold has a warm, almost understated glow, and the Eisenkiesel stone dial adds character without being too much. It feels elevated, but still easy to wear.
What I really like about this watch is how versatile it is. It has that recognisable Rolex presence, but the overall vibe is softer and more relaxed — perfect for summer. You could wear it to a wedding, a long lunch, or even just around the city, and it always feels appropriate. It’s not overly loud, but people notice it.
There’s also something timeless about a Day-Date. It’s a watch that doesn’t need to follow trends because it’s already an icon. This version just gives it a fresh twist. It’s classic, but a bit unexpected — and that’s exactly why I’d choose it for the season.
A 2022 H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton in Stainless Steel
Price: £43,900
Logan Baker, Senior Editorial Manager, Geneva
It’s rare to find a watch that embodies the best of independent Swiss watchmaking while also having a sporty edge. However, the Cylindrical Tourbillon from H. Moser & Cie. does exactly that.
The H. Moser Pioneer Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton is a masterclass in three-dimensional watchmaking. It features a prominently displayed cylindrical tourbillon and a partially open-worked dial that juxtaposes Moser’s signature fumé aesthetics with a movement with undeniable architectural presence.
The highlight, of course, is the cylindrical tourbillon at six o’clock, dancing under the sapphire crystal in hypnotic fashion. The floating sub-dial at 12 o’clock, finished in Moser’s signature Funky Blue fumé, provides a touch of familiarity amidst the mechanical complexity. Chamfered bridges, anthracite PVD finishing, and a skeletonized gold rotor round out the visual spectacle.
Despite being a highly complicated watch, the Pioneer Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton remains remarkably wearable. A stainless steel case, a screw-down crown, and 120 meters of water resistance make it one of the few tourbillon-equipped watches suitable for daily use (and a swim in the pool), which is why it's my Summer 2025 selection out of Perpetual's current stock.
