VIDEO: Inside Charles de Gaulle's London Office to Discover his World Time Pocket Watch

In the closing months of 1945, when the world was collectively letting out a sigh of relief at the end of the Second World War, a prominent group of Geneva citizens quietly commissioned a series of commemorative watches to honor the leaders of the Allied victory. Produced in utmost secrecy, four pocket watches were created for Harry Truman, President of the United States; Joseph Stalin, Marshal of the Soviet Union, Winston Churchill, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom; and France’s General Charles de Gaulle. A fifth timekeeper, a world time clock, was gifted to Roosevelt’s widow Eleanor. It was the General Charles de Gaulle’s pocket watch that we had the privilege to receive at the Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo office this spring. Find out what happened next in the video above filmed at the General's London office at 4 Carlton Gardens.
