Kaeli Deane, Head of Latin American Art, Americas, said, “Our final sale of Latin American art in 2017 has seen a renewed confidence in the market. Bidders across North America, South America, and Europe competed for extraordinary works art, leading to new auction records for both Zilia Sánchez and León Ferrari. Earlier this month, we also witnessed the demand for works of Latin American art in our Evening Sale of 20th Century & Contemporary Art, which set new records for Carmen Herrera and Hélio Oiticica, a testament to the increasing crossover appeal of this collecting category. This brings the Fall 2017 total for Latin American Art at Phillips to over $6 million. We are confident that this momentum will continue into 2018.”
