In tandem with Frieze Week, our international team put together a sale that truly reflects current trends in collecting. The success of this proactive approach was reflected by the strong market response to our contemporary offerings, and incredibly spirited bidding for the front run of highly sought-after names. The sale opened with new world auction records for Simone Leigh, Derek Fordjour, and Sanya Kantarovsky. This was followed by an extraordinary record price for Alex Katz, with his iconic Blue Umbrella I leading the sale. Further exceptional prices were achieved for Hurvin Anderson, Tschabalala Self, following the artist’s auction debut at Phillips London back in March, and Nathaniel Mary Quinn who we brought to the secondary market for the first time season. We look forward to the New York and Hong Kong auctions next month.”
