Hong Kong – 8 December 2022- Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo is pleased to announce the results of The Beauty in Everything Single Owner Online Auction, Phillips’ first online sale dedicated to a single owner collection featuring timepieces from The Armoury’s Mark Cho, an avid watch collector and aficionado for nearly two decades. The sale achieved HK$12.7 million/ US$1.63 million with 100% of the lots offered sold and nearly tripled its pre-sale low estimate. The sale was led by a Patek Philippe Nautilus ref. 3800/001 in stainless steel which sold for HK$1.4 million/ US$178,128 and set the world record for the reference in steel. Over 845 bidders from the international collecting community of 47 countries vied for watches from Cho’s collection that was formed over 16 years reflecting his horological passion, impeccable taste and deep knowledge of watches. In addition, new owners of the watches in the sale will be able to custom make one of The Armoury’s signature garments as a gift.

Thomas Perazzi, Head of Watches, Asia, Phillips, said, “We are absolutely thrilled with the results of our first online auction dedicated to a single owner’s collection. We would like to extend our gratitude to Mark Cho, The Armoury team, and bidders who followed us in this new venture. Phillips Watches achieved yet again a ‘white glove’ sale, marking the second consecutive year for 100% of the lots offered in our Hong Kong watch auctions sold and bringing the annual total in the region to new heights, exceeding HK$510 million/ US$65.5 million. I’m extremely proud of our team in Asia continued to deliver very strong growth year on year, with annual total for Phillips Watches in the region increased by more than four times since 2015. We are excited to welcome collectors to our Hong Kong sales next year taking place in the spectacular new Asia headquarters in the West Kowloon Cultural District, and we look forward to building the momentum by delivering stronger results in 2023.”
