PHILLIPS PRESENTS A SERIES OF AUCTIONS AND SELLING EXHIBITIONS DURING HONG KONG ART WEEK IN MARCH

Hong Kong26 February 2025 As Phillips celebrates its 10th anniversary in Asia this year, the company is thrilled to present a series of auctions, previews, and selling exhibitions this March at its Asia headquarters in Hong Kong's vibrant West Kowloon Cultural District and its Phillips Perpetual boutique in the Pedder Building, Central. These events coincide with the city’s highly anticipated Art Week.

Properties from Phillips’ upcoming Spring auctions will be on view, showcasing remarkable pieces of art, design, jewels, and watches. From captivating paintings and sculptures to limited editions by world-renowned artists, and stunning watches and jewels from leading brands, contemporary designers, and independent watchmakers, there is something extraordinary for every collector and art enthusiast.

In addition to auctions, PhillipsX, a selling exhibition platform operated by the global Private Sales team at Phillips, will present two selling exhibitions in entirely different styles. Phillips’ Hong Kong Arts Month programmes will begin with Picasso & The Animal Kingdom, a tribute to Pablo Picasso’s profound and lifelong fascination with the animal world. Following this, in collaboration with HOFA Gallery (House of Fine Art), Phillips will present SPACES II: Capturing the Ephemera, a cutting-edge digital fine art exhibition featuring pioneering works by leading generative and digital artists.

On 27 March, three printed works by Thai artist Gongkan, each in a series of 30, will become available on Phillips Dropshop, a “buy now” e-commerce platform offering limited-edition releases of primary market art and objects in partnership with artists, collaborators, and brands defining contemporary culture. These silkscreen prints will also travel to Hong Kong and be featured in Phillips’ preview exhibition during Art Week.

works by the 20th and 21st Century masters. Phillips’ ‘New Now’ sales have long been a guidepost for collectors seeking rising stars on the brink of international acclaim. Staying true to this spirit, this season, Phillips is honoured to be the auction partner for The 2025 Sovereign Asian Art Prize, featuring works from more than 30 shortlisted artists across Asia in the sale. Funds raised through artwork sales will benefit The Sovereign Art Foundation’s Make It Better programme, supporting disadvantaged children in Hong Kong.

Highlights of the sale include Ayako Rokkaku's triptych work, a dreamlike painting that features her iconic motif of adolescent girls. Each panel bursts with vivid hues and playful energy, showcasing the artist's unique painting technique with her hands. Professional Help on Rye rhymes with British artist and musician Issy Wood’s recent effort to distill food as a symbol and problem of desire from her routine activities. The motif of food signifies a dangerous fetishist impulse and speaks to a more intimate experience within our biological mechanics. Another standout is Volcano Blossoms by Dawn Ng, a multi-disciplinary visual artist from Singapore who has worked across a breadth of mediums, motifs, and scales. The work is shortlisted for the 2025 Sovereign Asian Art Prize.
