Kelly Troester and Cary Leibowitz, Deputy Chairpersons and Worldwide Co-Heads of Editions, said, “We covered impressive ground over the past two days with our MODERNISM and Editions & Works on Paper sales, delivering results that highlight both the vitality and breadth of the Editions market. The enthusiasm began with Tuesday’s MODERNISM auction, led by Yves Klein’s Winged Victory of Samothrace, which more than doubled its low estimate and set the tone for a dynamic session. That energy carried through to Man Ray’s Dada/Surrealist construction Obstruction, which also more than doubled its low estimate and achieved a new record for the work. These standout results were further bolstered by new records for Wassily Kandinsky, Josef Albers, Joan Miró, and Marc Chagall — underscoring not only renewed interest but also broad demand across the Modernist category. Competitive bidding also extended to works by Le Corbusier, Pablo Picasso, Alexander Calder, and Provincetown printmaker Juliette Nichols.

The energy continued with our Editions & Works on Paper sale, where works by Andy Warhol led the session. Two trial proofs of Moonwalk, a hot pink Marilyn, and two Sunsets ranked among the top ten works across all sessions. We were especially honored to present works from the collection of master printer and Cirrus Editions founder, Jean Milant, with particularly strong results for Vija Celmins, whose works were 100% sold and set multiple new records for the artist. We were also honored to help raise over $125,000 for Print Center New York to benefit future programs. Following this strong performance, we’re excited to carry the momentum into our final Editions auction of the year, taking place in Hong Kong on 24 November.”
