On 28 and 29 March 2025, Phillips held New Now: Modern & Contemporary Art and Design and Editions auctions in Hong Kong, coinciding with the city’s highly attended Art Week. The New Now auction was led by a dynamic mix of artists and established four new auction records. Phillips looks forward to carrying this vibrant spirit into its forthcoming Modern & Contemporary Art marquee sales in Hong Kong on 26 & 27 May.

Kimberley Wong, Associate Specialist, Modern & Contemporary Art, said, “True to the spirit of New Now, the top ten lots sold in today’s auction showcased an exciting mix of sought-after contemporary artists, rising stars, and pioneering designers. Leading the sale was Ayako Rokkaku’s first triptych to appear at auction, which sold for HK$4.12 million/ US$530,019, 1.8 times of its pre-sale low estimate. Other highlights included 20th Century French design master Charlotte Perriand’s bookcase, which soared to HK$2.22 million/ US$285,216, nearly three times its pre-sale low estimate, underscoring Phillips’ strength in the Design category. Exceptional prices were also achieved for works by Jason Boyd Kinsella, Issy Wood, Mel Bochner and rising talent Li Hei Di, whose works far exceeded presale estimates, demonstrating the dynamic appeal of this auction to a wide range of collectors. Four world auction records were achieved during the sale, including Jansson Stegner’s Cedar Lake, which sold for more than double its pre-sale low estimate. We were particularly grateful to be the auction partner of The 2025 Sovereign Asian Art Prize, with works by outstanding talents across Asia sold to support disadvantaged children in Hong Kong.”
