ZURICH – 5 NOVEMBER 2019 – Phillips is pleased to announce the appointment of Lori Spector as Senior International Specialist, 20th Century & Contemporary Art and Regional Director, Zurich. This important hire marks the next stage in building a long-term and commanding presence in Zurich, continuing Phillips’ expansion across Europe.

Prior to joining Phillips, Ms. Spector worked as a private art advisor and dealer living between Zurich and New York, specialising in 20th century and contemporary art. With extensive client relationships across these regions, and over twenty years of experience in the international art world, she will play a significant role in building Phillips’ presence in Switzerland. Ms. Spector will work with Phillips’ senior executives to source and sell 20th century and contemporary art to this ever-growing market, and to deliver best-in-class service and engagement opportunities to a growing network of collectors, dealers and art enthusiasts.

“Switzerland has always been an important market for modern and contemporary art and a home to many serious art collectors,” said Cheyenne Westphal, Global Chairwoman, and Jean-Paul Engelen, Worldwide Co-Head of 20th Century & Contemporary Art. “We are thrilled to be working with Lori again, who is highly regarded in Switzerland and further afield after spending time in New York. With her significant experience and passion for engaging with collectors and colleagues – and her deep understanding of the auction business – Lori will be a transformative addition to our team. Phillips has built a tremendously strong presence in Switzerland with our market-leading watch department and auctions in Geneva, and Lori’s appointment marks the next exciting step as we bring our 20th Century & Contemporary Art expertise to the region.”

Having completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania, Ms. Spector spent the early part of her career in the Impressionist and Modern Art Department at Christie’s New York. From Christie’s, Ms. Spector moved to Phillips in 2000, where she was a Specialist and later a Senior Director in the Impressionist and Modern Art Department. In 2004, Ms. Spector established Lori Spector Fine Art, Inc. (LSFA), drawing on her years of market experience to better service her international clientele for all of their art needs.

Ms. Spector is a certified member of the Appraiser’s Association of America in Post-War, Contemporary and Emerging Art and since 2016 has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the AAA. She also serves as Co-President of the Board of the Swiss Friends of the Israel Museum and has been on that Board since 2012. Ms. Spector is a member of the Friends of the Swiss Institute, as well as a Patron of Kunsthalle Zürich.
