Charlotte Raybaud, Specialist, Head of Modern & Contemporary Art Sale, London, said, “The results achieved in our Modern & Contemporary Art Sale reflect sustained international demand across the market. A standout moment came from our South Asian section, which delivered exceptional momentum and set a new world auction record for Lancelot Ribeiro, almost quadrupling its high estimate and underscoring Phillips’ continued commitment to this important collecting category. We were also thrilled by the positive response to works from the Loeb Collection, which collectively realised double their combined high estimate. Among the highlights was Bertha Wegmann’s Interior with a Bunch of Wildflowers, Tyrol, a museum-quality painting that achieved £245,100, over seven times its high estimate. Results such as these demonstrate the depth of appetite for works with distinguished provenance and exceptional quality.”
