Domenico Raimondo, Phillips’ Head of Department, Design, Europe and Senior International Specialist, said, “We are thrilled to announce our sale total of over £3.4 million, which exceeded the high estimate by over £1 million. François-Xavier Lalanne’s iconic ‘Mouton de Pierre’ led the auction. Italian design proved a cornerstone of the sale, with an exceptional result for Ettore Sottsass Jr.’s radical ‘Toeletta Nanda’ and Carlo Scarpa’s rare ceiling lights, which sold over three times their low estimate. Mid-century French design also performed well, with works by Charlotte Perriand, Jean Prouvé and Line Vautrin ranking among the top ten lots. These results reflect the depth of the international market and the enduring appeal of rare and important design.”
