Avery Semjen, Specialist, Head of New Now Sale, said, “Today’s New Now sale at Phillips New York delivered robust results, reflecting a sustained demand across emerging and established markets. The sale saw notable performances for works by female artists across the 20th and 21st centuries including Lynne Drexler, Jane Dickson, Joan Semmel, and Charline von Heyl. There were also solid results for established markets, with Christopher Wool’s Untitled achieving $309,600 and Raymond Pettibon’s No Title (My purpose in...) selling for $374,100. We were also proud to support The American Society of Black Neurosurgeons through a dedicated charity capsule within the sale. Firelei Báez’s Memory Like Fire led the group, selling for $67,080—more than quadrupling its low estimate. Altogether, the sale reflected the breadth of collector interest and the continued strength of the contemporary market.”
