Rebecca Tooby-Desmond, Specialist, Head of Sale, and Auctioneer, said, “The London Editions team are delighted with the result of £3 million with sell through rates above 90% and thrilled to have continued the momentum of our robust ten-year anniversary auctions. The global Editions collecting community continues to bid with enthusiasm and our auction saw energized participation from over 790 bidders across 49 countries worldwide. American Pop artists drew spirited competition with works by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Keith Haring selling well above the high estimate, and Robert Indiana’s The Book of Love soaring to almost three times the estimate to set a new auction record. Our curated group of fabric works by Contemporary artists was also incredibly well received, with the important collaboration between Louise Bourgeois and Tracey Emin, Do Not Abandon Me being offered at auction for the first time and selling above estimate for £107,950. We look forward to continuing this momentum with our David Shrigley online auction, which runs until 14 June with a screenprinting workshop held at Berkeley Square on Saturday 10 June, before our New York Editions & Works on Paper auction on 21 June.”
