HONG KONG – 26 November 2019 – Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo achieves HK$147Million / US$18.8 Million during The Hong Kong Watch Auction: NINE. This marks an 33% increase from the previous year – reaffirming Phillips as the number one destination for passionate collectors in Asia. A total of 321 timepieces of the highest quality attracted collectors from 55 countries across 6 continents, including a record number of 880 online bidders. Exceptional results were achieved for Patek Philippe, with the reference 5002G-010 setting a world record price for a reference 5002, selling for HK$18,150,000 / US$2,319,570. Other notable records including Rolex reference 6238, Patek Philippe reference 770 and 5976.

Thomas Perazzi, Head of Watches, Asia, and Auctioneer, said: “The Phillips Watch department is proud to have delivered a triumphant season in Hong Kong. The exceptional high sold rate of 98% by value is a testimony to how carefully the Phillips Watch department curated this season’s sale in Hong Kong. As we continue to bring timepieces of the finest quality to the Asian marketplace, we were especially pleased to welcome more than a thousand participants, with close to 900 online bidders, showing the market is vibrant and determined to compete for the finest timepieces available. With HK$330 million, our Watch department in Asia celebrates its highest annual total ever and this November sale of over HK$146 million marks a 33% increase from last year.”

Aurel Bacs, Senior Consultant and Auctioneer, said: “Following our blockbuster sales in Geneva, the Hong Kong Watch Auction: NINE achieved an impressive result. Within the top 10, there are several world records for different references by both Patek Philippe and Rolex, showing the diversity of the market and the determination of the international watch community to compete for the finest timepieces. In addition, today we have celebrated two world records for Patek Philippe Nautilus references, a great tribute to the late Gérald Genta, and that has been further reinforced by a unique and rare platinum Gerald Genta (Lot 1002) achieving seven times its pre-sale high estimate, showing how much collectors appreciate his work. We are very much looking forward to the Game Changers sale on 10 December in New York.”
