Benoît Repellin, Worldwide Head of Jewellery, and Louisa Chan, Head of Sale, Hong Kong, Phillips Jewels, said, “The sale total for our Spring auction in Hong Kong increased by 20% over the previous season, demonstrating the resilience of the global demand for rare and important jewels across the board. Fancy coloured diamonds commanded the sale, with a round brilliant-cut fancy vivid yellow diamond and diamond ring weighing 15.51 carats, leading the auction at HK$8.9 million/ US$1.13 million. Vintage signed pieces also performed well, with Van Cleef & Arpels’ turquoise and diamond necklace accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the House fetched HK$4.6 million / US$584,302, exceeding its pre-sale high estimate by nearly four times. We also saw notable demand for finest Burmese rubies, emerald and sapphire. We eagerly anticipate the upcoming Geneva Jewels Auction on 13 May, and look forward to welcoming Asian collectors to our previews in Taipei and Singapore in April.”
