Rebecca Tooby-Desmond, Specialist and Head of Sale, said “Achieving over £4.6 million and selling 99% by value and 96% by lot, this sale marks the highest ever sale total for Phillips Editions in London. We are also thrilled to have realised the highest ever price for a single Edition sold at Phillips, with Pablo Picasso’s etched masterpiece La Minotauromachie. Along with our auction record for Keith Haring’s Dog, these results demonstrate our continued strength across Modern and Contemporary markets and is testament that the combined offering of these works continues to appeal to clients around the globe. A busy and energised saleroom saw strong international participation from 1,003 registered bidders on the phone, online, and in the room. We are delighted to have started 2020 on a high which, after realising our strongest annual total to date in 2019, is set to be another phenomenal year for Phillips Editions. We look forward to continuing this momentum with our New York Modern & Contemporary Editions auctions on the 21st April.”
