Andy Warhol’s Mickey Mouse, from Myths (F. & S. 265), 1981 sold for £193,500, and Tomato, from Campbell's Soup I (F. & S. 46), 1968 sold for £154,800, a World Auction Record for any soup can edition by the artist.
Robert Kennan, Head of Editions, Europe, said, “Building on our 100% sold, White Glove sale in January, we are delighted to have carried that momentum into the summer season, with both our Evening Sale and Online Auction surpassing their high estimates and collectively achieving more than £2.5 million. Our new curated section, International Pop!, celebrated the very best of Pop printmaking and saw Andy Warhol dominate the top ten lots, including a new world auction record for any Campbell’s Soup edition by the artist. The continued strength of results across the live and online sales reflects the growing depth of the market for prints and multiples, and we look forward to our upcoming Editions & Works on Paper sale in New York on 24 June.”
