Phillips’ December Jewels Auction Realizes $7.4 Million, Led by Rare Diamonds of Exceptional Quality
Signed Pieces by Boodles, Tiffany & Co., Graff, and David Michael See Strong International Interest Across the Board
New York, 13 December 2022 Sale Total: $7,361,300 / £5,959,761 / €6,930,382
Benoît Repellin, Phillips’ Worldwide Head of Jewellery, said, “We are delighted to conclude the year on such a high note, with Phillips’ December Jewels auction achieving such strong results. With enthusiastic bidding across the globe – from Egypt, to Korea, to Brazil – the sale demonstrated the continued appeal for rare colored and colorless diamonds, as well as for exceptional signed pieces. Leading the auction was a Boodles fancy intense pink diamond pendent necklace weighing 4.05 carats, which realized $1.9 million after a fierce battle of bidders in the room, on the phones, and online. Earlier in the sale, a stunning emerald and diamond ring made by Tiffany & Co., circa 1915, soared past its estimate of $60,000-80,000 to $428,400. These results conclude an exceptional year for the Jewellery team at Phillips and we look forward to carrying this momentum into 2023.”
