Robert Kennan, Head of Editions, Europe, said, “We are delighted with our sale total of over £1.7 million. It was wonderful to see such spirited international bidding, with participants from more than 30 countries across four continents taking part on the phone, online, and in the saleroom. Our third annual dedicated Hockney auction was carefully curated to showcase the remarkable cross-section of the artist’s work, reflecting the breadth and virtuosity of his talent from the youthful energy of his first etching portfolio, A Rake’s Progress, to the charming etchings of his beloved dachshunds in Dog Wall, created three decades later. We’re proud that our sale celebrated Hockney’s innovation and artistic mastery and underscores our deep commitment to contemporary edition collecting, and we look forward to our next dedicated David Hockney auction in September 2025.”

Rebecca Tooby-Desmond, Specialist, Head of Sale, and Auctioneer, said, “We are thrilled with the success of our Evening & Day Editions auction, achieving a total of £3.6 million, with sell-through rates of 98% sold by value and 91% sold by lot, and several world auction records. Our auction featured a strong selection of works for all collectors, attracting enthusiastic international bidding from over 40 countries, demonstrating the enduring demand for modern and contemporary editions. American Pop art, especially unique works by Andy Warhol, exceeded their high estimates, highlighting his lasting influence. Notable results included Details of Renaissance Paintings at £247,650 against an estimate of £100,000–150,000, and Black Rhinoceros, Queen Elizabeth II, and Alexander the Great all surpassed expectations. Competitive bidding also drove prices for works by Picasso, including setting a new auction record for the complete Imaginary Portraits set, as well as contemporary works by Damien Hirst, and Banksy. We look forward to continuing this momentum with our New York Editions & Works on Paper sale and the Damien Hirst online auction in October.”
