Pablo Picasso

Jacqueline au chapeau à

fleurs. II, 1963

Estimate: $60,000 - 80,000

The Evening Sale will also include 18 complete sets from artists such as Andy Warhol, Josef Albers, Anish Kapoor, and Yayoi Kusama, showcasing these artist’s ability to experiment within a theme and create visual narratives, like James Rosenquist’s F-111 four panel series based on his monumental and immersive painting of the same name that tells the story of life in America on the cusp of atomic uncertainty through a Pop lens. Robert Rauschenberg’s Tribute 21 portfolio of 22 lithographs sought to harness art’s power to promote positive social, political, and humanitarian change in the twenty-first century by using each print in the series to highlight an individual whose contributions in a specific field made the world a better place.

The sale will also include a selection of Picasso linocuts, a process he began using in the late 1950s sixty years after the publication of his first etching. Using this rich printmaking medium, he re-explored portraits of women, elaborate still lifes, and most notably his second wife and muse Jacqueline Picasso née Roque, as seen in Jacqueline au chapeau à fleurs. II from 1963. Also on offer is a rare color state proof of Nature morte à la suspension - Nature morte sous la lampe, from 1962 which is one of his most important, thematic explorations in this medium.
