LONDON – 15 MARCH 2021 – Phillips is pleased to announce Beuys 100, a unique Contemporary Art and Editions sale this June commemorating the 100th birthday of Joseph Beuys. Featuring a broad spectrum of rare to market works Beuys 100 celebrates Beuys’ full range of techniques by including collages, prints, photographs, drawings, and most notably the artist’s vast range of editioned objects. Leading the sale is Beuys’ 1969 wooden Sled, an emergency survival kit which directly relates to Beuys’ own dramatic plane crash in the snow and subsequent rescue during the Second World War. The sale in June presents a curated selection of works which commemorate the life and achievements of Joseph Beuys.

Anne Schneider-Wilson, Senior Specialist, Editions, said, “We are thrilled to offer such a varied group of Joseph Beuys works on an international stage at Phillips in London. Beuys as an artist remains relevant today and has stood the test of time, with solo and group shows of his work shown worldwide since the late 60s. In 2021 there will be celebrations around the world to mark Beuys’ 100th birthday and we are delighted to participate in commemorating his work this June. Phillips continues to be at the forefront of contemporary edition collecting, sourcing original and important works by masters of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries and creating curated sales such as Beuys 100.”
