There was strong demand for French postwar works across the board and we were delighted to see Jean Prouvé’s Cabinet, model no. 152 soar to $190,000, nearly doubling its low estimate. Ron Arad’s impressive “Oh, the Farmer and the Cowman Should be Friends” led the sale, realizing $298,000. Ceramics also performed quite well with all of our works by Lucie Rie selling within or above estimate and with Akiyama Yo’s Untitled “MV-1011” setting a new auction record for the artist. We look forward to the fall season, in which we will continue to bring together the finest works of 20th and 21st century design.”
