from The Hong Kong Watch Auction: EIGHT. Featuring over
290 lots, the auction will be held at JW Marriott Hong Kong, starting at 12pm
on 28 May, 2019. Led by one of the most complicated watches ever
made, the Patek Philippe reference 5002G, the spring auction also features
unique and rare timepieces from the leading watchmakers, including Patek
Philippe, Rolex, Vacheron Constantin, Greubel Forsey, and Audemars Piguet.
Thomas Perazzi, Head

year of Hong Kong sales in 2018 at Phillips,
which attracted record numbers of online and offline bidders
internationally, Phillips is delighted
to present the Hong Kong watch spring sale, which comprises an incredible
selection of vintage and modern watches. Many of the watches on offer are fresh
to the market including the Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon.”
TOP LOT OF THE SALE
Patek Philippe Reference 5002G
A highly important,
impressive and extremely rare white gold double dialed wristwatch with twelve
complications including minute repeating, tourbillon, perpetual calendar,
retrograde date, sky chart, moon phases, orbit display, sidereal time, leap
year indicator with certificate of origin, presentation box, setting pin and
hang tag. Circa 2007.
Estimate: HKD 6,200,000 -
12,400,000/ USD 800,000 – 1,600,000
In 2001, Patek Philippe
released its new millennium grand complication wristwatch, the Sky Moon
Tourbillon. This modern masterpiece incorporated innovations from their historic
past and inspired by the Star Caliber 2000, a celebration for the new
millennium that launched in 2000. It features two dials, one on either side of
the watch, and displays 12 complications.
This watch is fresh to the
market and is only the second known white gold version to appear in public.
Manufactured for important clients, research indicates that more examples in
yellow gold and platinum were made, with fewer in pink and white gold. This is
a very rare opportunity for a collector to own and cherish a watch that comes
from a long and established history.

“Honeycomb” dial, with circular hour markers and faceted triangular indexes at
3, 6, and 9 o’clock. Adding another element of collectability, the watch also
