Thomas Perazzi, Head of Watches, Phillips Asia, comments: “Following a strong and successful year of Hong Kong sales in 2018 at Phillips, which attracted record numbers of online and offline bidders internationally, Phillips is delighted to present the Hong Kong watch spring sale, which comprises an incredible selection of vintage and modern watches. Many of the watches on offer are fresh to the market including the Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon.”

TOP LOT OF THE SALE

Patek Philippe Reference 5002G

A highly important, impressive and extremely rare white gold double dialed wristwatch with twelve complications including minute repeating, tourbillon, perpetual calendar, retrograde date, sky chart, moon phases, orbit display, sidereal time, leap year indicator with certificate of origin, presentation box, setting pin and hang tag. Circa 2007.

Estimate: HKD 6,200,000 - 12,400,000/ USD 800,000 – 1,600,000

In 2001, Patek Philippe released its new millennium grand complication wristwatch, the Sky Moon Tourbillon. This modern masterpiece incorporated innovations from their historic past and inspired by the Star Caliber 2000, a celebration for the new millennium that launched in 2000. It features two dials, one on either side of the watch, and displays 12 complications.

This watch is fresh to the market and is only the second known white gold version to appear in public. Manufactured for important clients, research indicates that more examples in yellow gold and platinum were made, with fewer in pink and white gold. This is a very rare opportunity for a collector to own and cherish a watch that comes from a long and established history.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS FROM Hong Kong Watch Auction: EIGHT

Rolex Reference 6541
An early, exceedingly rare and highly attractive anti-magnetic stainless steel wristwatch with black honeycomb dial, flash seconds hand and bracelet. Circa 1958.

Estimate: HKD 2,300,000 - 4,000,000/ USD 295,000-513,000

The present example, created in 1958, is one of the earliest reference 6541 produced. The most prominent feature of the watch is its unusual and awe-inspiring seconds hand in the shape of a lightning bolt. Giving the watch an unmistakable appearance, the present watch is fitted with a wondrously beautiful and exceedingly rare black “Honeycomb” dial, with circular hour markers and faceted triangular indexes at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. Adding another element of collectability, the watch also includes a rotating bezel with a red-colored triangle and a honey comb-patterned dial.

Patek Philippe Reference 5013R

An extremely attractive and rare pink gold tonneau-shaped minute repeating perpetual calendar wristwatch with black dial and Breguet numerals, retrograde date, moon phase, original certificate, presentation box and Tiffany & Co. outer packaging. Circa 2007.

Estimate: HKD 2,100,000 - 3,000,000/ USD 269,000-385,000

While Patek Philippe’s reference 5013 spanned two centuries, first released in 1992 and discontinued in 2010, it has the classic charm and iconic style of early 20th-century watches with a tonneau-shaped case and grand complication movement featuring repeat function combined with perpetual calendar and moon phase. The present example is in excellent overall condition. There are nine known examples of the reference in pink gold with three, including this watch, with black dials.

Vacheron Constantin Reference 35711

A magnificent, lavish and exceptionally rare white gold with baguette diamond-set bracelet watch with baguette diamond dial. Circa 1990.

Estimate: HKD 1,420,000 - 2,400,000/ USD 182,000-308,000

Vacheron Constantin's Lord Kalla bracelet watch combines Haute Horlogerie and Haute Joaillerie creating a sublime baguette diamond-set wristwatch that appears to be constructed from eye-catching diamonds. The Kalla models, first released in 1979, are part of the larger Metiers d’Art collection and spring from the earlier Kallista wristwatch, which as its name suggested is the “most beautiful.” The present Lord Kalla comprised of 316 diamonds for an approximately weight of 58 carat.
