WORLD RECORDS FOR LE CORBUSIER AND TOSHIMITSU IMAI

NEW YORK – 8 NOVEMBER 2015 – The inaugural 20th Century and Contemporary Art Auction at Phillips totalled $66,894,000 / £44,150,040 / €62,211,420 selling 90% by value and 82% by lot.

“We are delighted with the results from our 20th Century and Contemporary Art Evening Sale,” said Jean-Paul Engelen, Worldwide Head of Contemporary Art, and Hugues Joffre, Worldwide Head of 20th Century Art. “We had very active bidding for a number of lots, including works by Jean Dubuffet, Yayoi Kusama, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Joan Mitchell, and Henry Moore, and we are pleased to see a new record for Le Corbusier, bolstering our expansion into 20th Century art. The contemporary market remains vibrant, and our international team worked hard to assemble a sale that offered desirable works across multiple categories and price points.”
