Tamila Kerimova, Head of Day Sale, said: “Following last night’s Evening Sale, the results of the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale reaffirmed the stability of the global art market at every price level and concluded a successful season of June sales. We were especially excited with the result of Tony Cragg’s Black Diabas, which led the sale, selling above the high estimate. The results are a testimony to the international demand for works by young artists, exemplified by Harold Ancart, Shara Hughes, Jonas Wood and Torey Thornton, among others. The global appeal of the sale resulted in increased bidding activity from over 40 countries across six continents, with notable participation from Asia, the United States and Europe.”
