The strong results for Phillips’ 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale, up 41% from a year ago, follow our record-breaking Day Sale, which marked the highest total in London in company history. As a result, our global auction sales for 20th Century & Contemporary Art are up a remarkable 81% for the first half of 2018, demonstrating continued strength in the market and the extraordinary momentum at Phillips. In this evening’s sale, we experienced very active bidding for Martin Kippenberger’s masterpiece Ohne Titel (aus der Serie Das Floß der Medusa), and Lucio Fontana’s Concetto spaziale, Natura, along with exciting works by Jonas Wood and Sean Scully.
