Peter Sumner, Head of Contemporary Art, London:
"The results of this evening’s auction show a healthy market and highlight that demand and prices remain strong for quality works of art. We’re particularly pleased with the results for Mark Bradford’s ‘Rat Catcher of Hamelin III’ which sold for over £3.7 million, just shy of the record price achieved here in October last year, and for the result of Andy Warhol’s ’20 Pink Mao’s’, our cover lot for the sale. We saw a fairly even number of European and American bidders this evening, and were also delighted to welcome a noticeable increase in the number of Asian clients ahead of our first auction of art and design in Hong Kong on 27 November.”
