Tamila Kerimova, Head of Day Sale, said: “We are very pleased with the results from today’s auction of 20th Century & Contemporary Art. The sale attracted spirited bidding for works by both young and established artists, achieving strong results for Yayoi Kusama, Yoshitomo Nara and Marlene Dumas. We are especially pleased with the result of Adrian Ghenie’s ‘Study for Pie Fight Interior’, which ignited competitive participation from international bidders and realised fifteen times its pre-sale estimate. The results have shown that there is high demand for young artists when priced with attractive estimates, exemplified by Sascha Braunig’s ‘Reef’ which set a new auction record for the artist.”
