Rebekah Bowling and John McCord, Co-Heads of Phillips’ 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, said, “We’re delighted to kick off our week of 20th Century & Contemporary Art auctions with the highest Day Sale total in Phillips’ history. Today’s auction demonstrates strong demand among collectors for post-war and contemporary art as a number of artworks sold for well above their high estimates, including works by Jean Dubuffet, Harold Ancart, Andy Warhol and Christo. New world records were set for Rashid Johnson, Christina Quarles, Ed Clark, and Stanley Whitney, among others, as our international team did a spectacular job of assembling a well-curated sale. We’re also pleased by the great result for the works sold to benefit Artadia’s 20th anniversary as the proceeds will support the organization’s extraordinary work to support the artistic community.”

Carolyn Ramo, Executive Director of Artadia, said, “We are thrilled to have surpassed our goal and raised crucial funds to support the next generation of visual artists for many years to come with our influential Artadia Award program. We are so appreciative of this successful partnership with Phillips, and we extend our immense gratitude to the generous artists and galleries who donated works to support their fellow artists.”
