LONDON – 10 September 2014 – Phillips is proud to announce Nuit Blanche Video Night event featuring Daniel Canogar.
Nuit Blanche is a one night only video arts festival, curated by Yasmine Datnow, Maïa Morgensztern and Marie Shek, that will take place in the windows of multiple cultural venues across London such as White Cube Mason’s Yard, Victoria Miro, Spruth Magers, Marlborough Contemporary, Almine Rech Gallery, David Gill, USP / French Radio London, Edition Hotel, George, Ibid and Lanvin. Phillips's Brook Street Gallery will show a video piece by Daniel Canogar, a visual artist focusing on video and installation art and photography.
Canogar has created numerous public art pieces and at the moment is working on his largest participatory video installation ‘Storming Times Square’ which is supported by the Times Square Alliance, Times Square Advertising Coalition and will debut in September 2014 in New York.
Born in Madrid in 1964 Canogar received an M.A. from NYU and the International Center for Photography in 1990. His sculptural installations are made using discarded electronic materials such as electric cable, burnt-out bulbs, celluloid, DVD’s and computers. These installations explore the relationship of the technologies and their connection to organic transience. Canogar aims to bring vivacity to lifeless materials and free the energy kept in the electronic waste.
