Simon Tovey, Head of the New Now Sale in London, said: “A great finish to 2017 - the highest sale total for a New Now auction in London. The sale was led by George Condo’s Robot Girl, consistent with the artist’s ever growing demand, with further standout results including Shara Hughes who attracted widespread interest from nine phone bidders, as well as interest in the room and online. These results reiterate the continuing desire for works by both the established and the emerging. We saw worldwide participation from across 48 countries, and a 71% increase in online buying year-on-year, as well as new auction records achieved for nine artists including Sung Hee Cho, Ida Ekblad and Krištof Kintera. This hammers home that our New Now category has fast become a staple of the 20th century and contemporary art auction season.”
